Mexican Cartels are out more than $91 million in expected profits after US Federal Agents seized several huge shipments of methamphetamines from smugglers caught attempting to bring them across the border into Texas last month.
The largest bust was a 5,793.46 pound load of meth found inside more than 3,500 packages of the drug a cartel attempted to hide within a large load of potato chips being shipped across the International Bridge between Ciudad Miguel Alemán, Mexico and Roma, Texas.

That drug shipment, discovered by US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) Officers, cost a cartel more than $51 million, based on the street value and weight of the drugs.

Another large meth bust occurred on the Pharr International Bridge on April 11, 2025 when CBP Officers discovered 300 packages of meth hidden in a tractor-trailer load of fresh bell pepper and cucumbers. The drug load weighed in at 1,635.56 pounds, worth more than $14.5 million.

Nine days later, CBP Agents on the Eagle Pass International Bridge took a closer look at a truck arriving from Piedras Negras, Mexico, and found 1,149 pounds of liquid methamphetamine inside an external fuel tank. That cost a cartel another $10.5 million in expected profits, based on the street value of the drugs.

On April 13, 2025, CBP Officers at the Pharr International Bridge cargo lot took down another multi-million dollar load of cartel meth as they inspected a large shipment of chayote, also known as vegetable pear, a green, pear-shaped squash native to Mexico. Mixed in with the veggies were 3,770 packages containing 1,002 pounds of methamphetamine. This seized shipment squashed another $8.9 million in cartel profits.

A cartel smuggling operation lost another multi-million load of meth on April 4, 2025, at the Javier Vega Jr. Border Patrol Checkpoint on US Highway 77 near Sarita, Texas. The smugglers tried to hide 102 pounds of the drug inside 90 packages behind the trim panels of a Ford Escape - but the keen nose of Border Patrol K9 sniffed them out. The street value of this drug load was more than $3.2 million.

Three weeks later, Border Patrol Agents at the Falfurrias, Texas Checkpoint on US Highway 281 delivered another multi-million-dollar blow to cartel profits, seizing 90 packages of methamphetamines weighing 104 pounds with a value of $2,513,280.00.

Finally, CBP Agents on Laredo's Colombia-Solidarity International Bridge cost a cartel another cool million dollars worth of meth when they discovered 28 packages containing 115.52 pounds of meth inside a van being driven by a Mexican citizen crossing into the United States. The narcotics have a street value of $1,062,252.
How big of an impact do you think these big busts had on Mexican Cartel drug operations?

Good news, but these losses are anticipated by the cartels. We need to reduce the demand.
