Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has sued to stop a development in North Texas that critics have called a “Sharia City” due to a muslim-centric design around a mosque and an Islamic school.
The planned community, originally called “EPIC City” (after the East Plano Islamic Center), has also been named “The Meadow” in documents submitted to Collin County last month.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott continues to oppose the project, no matter what it is called.
“The Meadow” will remain just that - an empty meadow. EPIC can change its name, but can’t change the legality of the flawed structure they seek to impose. It’s just a disguise to impose sharia on a community they create.”
A news release by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton says his office is suing “the East Plano Islamic Center (“EPIC”), Community Capital Partners (“CCP”), and several of their leaders for engaging in an illegal development scheme that violated Texas securities law.”
“The leaders behind EPIC City have engaged in a radical plot to destroy hundreds of acres of beautiful Texas land and line their own pockets. I will relentlessly bring the full force of the law against anyone who thinks they can ignore the rules and hurt Texans. The unlawful land project known as EPIC City will be stopped, and those responsible will be barred from ever creating another fraudulent operation like this again.” -Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton
Paxton also says that “promotional materials implied that the project would be unlawfully reserved for Muslims specifically and described the development as the “epicenter of Islam in North America.”
The Dallas Morning News reports that Community Capital Partners, one of the parties Paxton is suing, has issued the following statement:
“We just learned about the filing from the Attorney General’s social media post. Our focus is on understanding the claims and ensuring we have a clear and accurate assessment of the document.” -Community Capital Partners

This project is a abomination!
Jack, Ken Paxton is the greatest AG ever IMHO. I am elated to see Governor Abbott protecting his great state of TX. Thanks 🇺🇸.
