FLASH UPDATE: Big Bend Border Barrier Build Pause Extended

Through at least Sept. 15, 2026

Bloomberg Law and numerous other news organizations are reporting that “pre-construction” work in preparation for building border barriers and other border security infrastructure in Big Bend National Park “has been halted through Sept. 15, 2026, and possibly longer, a federal judge said from the bench Friday.”

US Border News has been covering the controversy for many months over the construction of “Border Walls,” “Border Barriers,” and other border security infrastructure in extremely remote sections of the Big Bend, as well as Far Southwest and Far West Texas where very few illegal crossings occur because of the harsh desert conditions, lack of roads (on both sides of the border) and forbidding desert landscape (including steep cliffs) along the Rio Grande there.
