The US Coast Guard (USCG) & US Navy (USN), joined by partners including US Customs & Border Protection (CBP), as well as forces from allied nations, have seized $11.34 billion worth of illegal drugs from cartel smugglers during operations in the oceans off the Americas over the last 12 months.
Those astounding numbers were just released by the US Southern Command, which oversees Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-South), which coordinates the military and law enforcement units involved in the ongoing battle with those drug smugglers.
Their efforts have stopped one million pounds of cocaine (enough to fill 42 dump trucks) from reaching the United States.
Meanwhile, the battle to stop the smugglers continues.
Last week, the USCG Cutter Midgett returned to San Diego with 21,000 pounds of cocaine seized from four cartel drug smuggling boats during a two-month patrol off Mexico, as well as Central & South America.
The street value of those drugs is estimated to be worth $156 million.

Do you support the use of deadly force against suspected drug-smuggling boats?
