Every inch of both borders need to be monitored for illegal activity all the time. That is one of the few powers given the federal government by the constitution. It is a good use of the peacetime military.

I need more information. Militarization is always sensitive. If there are overt threats at the Southern border, I would worry similar situations are occurring now at the Northern border, as well. There were/are serious problems with threats at U.S. ports emanating from China. Think San Francisco and Port of Seattle. The House Judiciary is struggling with Washington State to make inroads to deport cartel operations. I think they're trying to keep a cool temperature on things, but domestic intrusions are high. So it's best to let people know what's going on Stateside. Martial law won't be quietly tolerated for long if you can't ask questions about it.

I’m curious to know how many commenters live on this border. I am a white American woman born in southern New Mexico. Hundreds of thousands of people cross daily to work in the United States and they cross again every evening to go home. Migrant workers have been planting and harvesting our crops for 100 years. Taxes and Social Security are taken out of their paychecks and they have no access to draw Social Security payments when they retire or are disabled. Americans cross every day to shop, access healthcare and fill prescriptions, celebrate special occasions and eat at luxury restaurants and hotels. The majority of migrants are coming to make a better life for themselves and their families and they are abiding by the laws of the USA and applying for visas, green cards and asylum using the legal process required by the USA to do so.

The biggest threat to the safety of the border is the “coyotes” who charge migrants to guide and protect them as they travel. They are often connected to human trafficking rings in the United States who exploit them for labor and sexual slavery. I suggest that we clean our own house before labeling others as filth.

Awesome 👍. The US military, returning to its long neglected role of defending the American nation's territorial integrity.
