US Border: Cartel Smugglers Busted off Coast of California
Migrants' origins spark National Security concerns
US Federal Authorities are intercepting more migrants trying to enter the country by sea - especially off the California Coast - and they are growing increasingly alarmed about who they are finding aboard those vessels.
"(It's a) national security concern because it's not just your economic Mexicans looking to come to the United States for work. It's also … bad actors coming from other countries. We've seen nationalities to include Chinese, Russian, Uzbekistani, and Pakistani. It's really all over the place," Coast Guard Captain Jason Hagen told Fox News.
One of the most recent human smuggling attempts resulted in the apprehension of 21 aliens aboard a 25-foot boat approximately 20 miles west of Point Loma, California, on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025.
Three days before that, the Coast Guard intercepted another boat carrying over a dozen aliens off the coast of southern California.
Air Station San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew, Coast Guard Cutter Benjamin Bottoms, and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations boat crew participated in shutting down the human smuggling attempt.
The aliens - found to be citizens of China, India, and Mexico - were turned over to US Customs & Border Protection Officers.
Fox News reports that - over the last 90 days, the Coast Guard has encountered about 200 migrant boats near the San Diego coast, amounting to about two migrant boat interceptions each day,
Should the US Navy be called upon to join the Coast Guard & US Customs & Border Protection to help seal off the California Coast?
