US Border: Big Drug Busts Continue as Alien Arrests Fall
Cocaine smuggling hit hard by feds
The US Southern Border Security situation is markedly different depending on what issue you are most concerned about: While instances of human smuggling are now at all-time lows, it's a different story on the drug-smuggling front, so we'll address that first:
DRUG BUSTS:
Off the coasts of the US, both US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) and the US Coast Guard continue to report arrests of drug-runners and seizures of their large drug loads.

In the Pacific, the crew of the US Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton seized more than 12,000 pounds of cocaine from two smuggling boats they intercepted while on patrol on July 21, 2025, and July 23, 2025.
While off the coast of Puerto Rico, the CBP reports its officers have seized 770 pounds of cocaine after intercepting two smuggling boats from the Dominican Republic in separate incidents on July 20, 2025, and July 21, 2025.

During the past week, the CBP reports that its agents seized:
1,614 lbs. of Meth
878 lbs. of Cocaine
393 lbs. of Fentanyl
$328K in Currency
2,294 Rounds of Ammo
But it's the cocaine seizures that are topping the list of drug seizures along the Southern US Border. So far this month, the US Border Patrol reports seizing over 1,100 pounds of cocaine- valued at over $29 MILLION... and July isn't even over.
Meanwhile, CBP Agents are also reporting a number of large cocaine seizures:

CBP Agents in Roma, Texas, intercepted a big load of cocaine hidden inside a semi-truckload of soft drinks crossing the border through the Mexican city of Ciudad Miguel Alemán on July 28, 2025. Alerted by the keen nose of one of their K9s, the officers uncovered 73 packages containing a 212-pound load of cocaine worth more than $2.8 million.

Two days earlier, CBP Agents further downriver on the Rio Grande stopped another large load of cocaine from being smuggled into Texas. A pick-up truck crossing into Hidalgo, Texas, from Reynosa, Mexico, attracted the attention of officers as it passed through an X-ray system that flagged the vehicle. Those suspicious images turned out to be 30 packages containing 76.94 pounds of cocaine worth $1,027,316.
Other recent cocaine seizures of note along the Texas-Mexico border include $529,000 worth of cocaine seized on Laredo's World Trade Bridge on July 19, 2025, and 42 pounds of cocaine being smuggled into Ysleta, Texas, from Ciudad Juárez on July 20, 2025.
There's also one other drug bust (not involving cocaine) of note that occurred in July: CBP officers at Los Angeles International Airport intercepted nearly 300lbs of meth that smugglers attempted to pass through the airport inside "solar panels" destined for New Zealand:

HUMAN SMUGGLING:
The Chief of the US Border Patrol reports that apprehensions of illegal aliens along the Southern Border with Mexico continue at historic lows, with 4,022 recorded so far in July. Still, some illegal alien arrests warrant attention.
On July 27, 2025, CBP Marine Interdiction Agents from the San Diego intercepted a "panga" off the coast of California with eight illegal aliens aboard (who were arrested) and seized the vessel.

And, although overall illegal alien arrests are down along US borders, so far this fiscal year, CBP officers have arrested more than 10,000 criminal non-citizens attempting to enter the US. Among those taken into custody:

A deported Mexican felon and confirmed member of the "Paisas" gang.
Criminal history:
Burglary of habitation
Possession of marijuana
Criminal mischief
Human smuggling
Felony illegal re-entry
The Border Patrol says he now faces another felony charge for illegally entering the country.
