Texas: "Sharia Law & Sharia Compounds Banned" in Lone Star State
Governor Abbott touts new law
Governor Greg Abbott, responding to recent controversies in Texas, made it clear that "Sharia Law & Sharia Compounds" are banned in his state.
The most recent incident addressed by Governor Abbott before a group of Texas lawmakers and reporters on Friday, September 12, 2025, stems from a social media storm earlier this month regarding protests led by a Houston Imam.
Imam Qasim ibn Ali Khan of Masjid At-Tawhid in Houston's Fifth Ward is targeting Muslim-owned businesses he says are selling pork products, alcohol, and lottery tickets, which the Quran forbids.
Although Imam Qasim Khan announced on TikTok in May 2025 that his campaign against the businesses would begin in July, it did not concern anyone outside of the Fifth Ward until August.
That's when news of the "Sharia Patrols" in Houston began spreading on x.com and was picked up by mainstream media soon afterward.
On September 8, 2025, Texas Senator Ted Cruz tagged Governor Greg Abbott & US Attorney General Pam Biondi on x.com about the growing controversy and said it "likely violates multiple federal & state laws":
Within hours, Governor Abbott responded, saying that "Sharia Law and Sharia Compounds" were banned in Texas - and declared "No business & no individual should fear fools like this."
Which brings us to the Governor's remarks on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the ceremonial bill signing of HB4211 in Collin County, in response to the furor over what some called a "Sharia City" being developed there by the East Plano Islamic Center ("EPIC City"). The state law was recently enacted to outlaw "Sharia Compounds" in Texas.
EPIC City is a planned 400+ acre community centered around a mosque, a K-12 Islamic school, and 1,000 homesites. Critics claim it will enforce "Sharia Law" and become what Texas Governor Greg Abbott fears could be a "no-go zone" for Texans who follow other religions.
At the Governor's urging, multiple state agencies launched investigations into the development, some of which are ongoing.
At Friday's bill-signing, Governor Abbott declared that "The development was structured in a way that requires anybody who bought a lot there to abide by Sharia law. That is illegal in Texas."
He also quickly pivoted to the more recent controversy: the Houston Imam accused of conducting "Sharia Patrols"
"I want to comment on recent stories of a Houston Imam who insisted that Muslim owned businesses must follow Sharia law rather than Texas law.
I have what I think is a quote from the Imam, and he says, "if you live in the neighborhood, you are bound by the rule of the mosques. That is false. It is illegal. No neighborhood in Texas is governed by Sharia Law. To be clear, Texas laws & Texas courts govern those businesses and those neighborhoods. No ranting Iman can change that.

We have to be strong and bold to nip these kinds of unconstitutional power grabs in the bud. Weak nations and states will fall victim to Islamic tyranny, but Texas won’t! Praise God for this type of boldness! Long Live Texas!
Good to see that Governor Abbott is on it. These people are serious about taking over the world by any means available wherever they go. They should not be ignored.
