Mexican, Canadian Troops Join US in Border Crackdown
Will further militarization secure the US Borders- or make things worse?

The militarization of the US-Mexico-Canadian borders continues as the leaders of those three countries announced agreements that will further tighten the United States’ Northern & Southern Borders.
10,000 Mexican National Guardsmen (like those shown above) will deploy to their Northern Border to help stem the flow of drugs and migrants into the US.
Mexico's President - Claudia Sheinbaum - says the US, in turn, has "committed to working to prevent the trafficking of high-powered weapons to Mexico," which are arming the cartels there.

Meanwhile, both Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Trump "Border Czar" Tom Homan arrived at Fort Bliss in El Paso on Monday, February 3, 2025, for meetings with the US Northern Command's Joint Task Force North which is involved in the deployment of troops to the US Southern Border.

About the time Hegseth and Homan arrived in El Paso, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem left Del Rio, Texas, after a weekend trip to the border there.
While there, Noem made a point of riding with its Horse Patrol Unit.

That unit was unfairly vilified in 2021 when many people - including President Biden - claimed the mounted Border Patrol Agents - were whipping Haitians they were chasing who illegally crossed the Rio Grande into Texas. The "whips" were actually the split reins the agents used to control their horses:
The incident occurred during a week in which the Border Patrol was overwhelmed by 15,000 Haitians who illegally crossed the border there.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Monday officially confirmed the news that leaked Sunday of an agreement between his state and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) giving the Texas National Guard immigration arrest authority along its border with Mexico.
The agreement requires Texas troops to turn anyone arrested for immigration violations over to US Customs & Border Protection Officers for processing.

As far as the US Northern Border with Canada, President Trump late Monday posted on his “Truth Social” website/app that the US & Canada have agreed to establish a “Canada-US Joint Strike Force” to combat “organized crime, fentanyl (smuggling) and money laundering” - even though there is little evidence of widespread problems along that shared border — resulting in, once again, “pausing” tariffs he threatened to impose on a neighboring country:

What are your thoughts about what will result from Mexico, Canada & the US further militarizing its borders?
