Opposition to US Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Los Angeles resulted in numerous confrontations between US Federal Officers and citizens over the weekend, resulting in President Trump ordering the deployment of "2,000 National Guardsmen to address the lawlessness.' on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
A change in ICE arrest tactics - demanded by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem (which I reported on late last week) likely played a large part in galvanizing the protests.
Where ICE had once prioritized the arrests of illegal aliens with criminal records, an ICE official was reported to say that during a meeting with top agency heads in May it was made clear, that “Stephen Miller wants everybody arrested. ‘Why aren’t you at Home Depot? Why aren’t you at 7-Eleven?," he reportedly demanded.
In response, ICE began prioritizing arrests of immigrants who were far easier to locate, including those who had been diligently responding to requests for regular check-ins with US authorities.
In early June, ICE began arresting them as they voluntarily showed up for what were once routine court appearances.

When ICE trotted out this playbook at a Los Angeles Federal Courthouse on Friday, June 6, 2025, all hell broke loose. According to ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons, "over 1,000 rioters surrounded and attacked the federal building."
He also said, "It took over two hours for the Los Angeles Police Department to respond, despite being called multiple times."

Protests also erupted against reported ICE raids in Chinatown and near a Home Depot in Paramount.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass issued a statement decrying the ICE tactics, saying they "sow terror in our communities and violate basic principles of safety."
"We will not stand for this," she vowed.
Response from the Trump Administration was swift:
"You have no say in this at all. Federal law is supreme and federal law will be enforced." -Stephen Miller, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security
"It doesn’t matter if you’re a judge, a member of Congress, or a protestor in Los Angeles: If you obstruct or assault a law enforcement officer, this Department of Justice will prosecute you." -Pameli Bondi, US Attorney General
And for the final word, comes this message from President Trump, posted to TruthSocial:
What do you think will happen next in this battle between California & the Trump Administration over ICE enforcement actions?

The left has no problem with millions of illegals living on welfare, dealing drugs, and running child prostitution gangs. But the minute these thugs get arrested, suddenly to leftists come out of the woodwork. Its obvious that all these so-called protests, which are actually riots, are being sponsored by a large organization perhaps The Democratic Party?
Lefties showed their criminal face when they started the "defund the police" movement. They do not care about the victims; they only care about criminals. You wonder why? Because they are criminals themselves and are preparing the system so that they can be untouchable. Thanks to the sane majority of American citizens who elected Donald J. Trump as president, the MAGA was given a majority in both chambers of Congress.
