The winning bidder at an auction in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, got a surprise when he opened the unclaimed storage unit he bought --- as did the Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy he summoned to examine its contents.
“That’s uh, that’s an absolute metric sh** ton of fentanyl there! I got a very unique situation here,” the deputy exclaimed as he called for back-up. When US Drug Enforcement (DEA) Agents and Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Agents arrived, they confirmed the storage unit contained 1.7 million fentanyl pills, enough fentanyl powder (12 kilos) to make 6 million more tablets, and a pill-making machine to crank out the drugs.

The seizure is the largest in Colorado history, and the sixth-largest single seizure of fentanyl pills ever in the United States.
“(This) has been tied to active DEA investigations involving federal, state, and local partners touching six different states as well as Mexico, targeting the Sinaloa Cartel.” - U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Rocky Mountain Field Division Special Agent in Charge David Olesky
The DEA says the registered owner of the storage unit is in federal custody. Due to the ongoing investigation, the agency says no further information will be released.
Do you think these seizures will have a major impact on the Sinaloa Cartel’s US Drug Operations?
