Do you want to break into journalism, but don’t know how? Are you a student journalist who needs to build up cred to break into the industry? Or are you (like me) a semi-retired journalist who still wants to contribute to US news coverage?
I am a (one-man band) editor & principal reporter of a Google-News-indexed Substack site with more stories than I can author, and I am reaching out to seek partners to expand the site’s output.

Take a look at usbordernews.com to see our focus (on border security & immigration issues primarily at the US southern border with Mexico) and then my profiles at https://www.linkedin.com/in/becreative/ & https://muckrack.com/jack-beavers to learn who I am.
Anyone who joins usbordernews.com in response to this post agrees to accept me as their editor, and I pledge to adhere to AP News standards as well as those of some of the great editors I worked under (including James Bellows).
If that name is not familiar, just know that he once famously published Martin Luther King, Junior’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail” on the front page of the New York Herald Tribune.

I can never live up to that legacy, but it does not mean I cannot try.
I will NOT publish an article under the byline of any contributor who joins the site who does not agree with my final edit. Your reputation is more valuable than my opinion. On that, you have my word.
Although our circulation on Substack, after a little over a year on the platform, is relatively modest, we are attracting some high-profile subscribers who, without revealing their identities, allow us to punch above our weight in terms of the impact of our articles.
I am also publishing border security articles under my byline on the Newsbreak aggregator platform, on which I have reached over 2.5M impressions and gained more than 25K subscribers.
As we add usbordernews.com contributors, we may (with your permission) either publish “joint bylines” or convert my individual contributor status on Newsbreak to that of a publisher partner, enabling distribution of your submitted articles to a larger audience on Newsreak.com beyond the Substack platform.
When you peruse our articles on Substack, you’ll see that we don’t collect any subscription revenue. As we grow, we hope to eventually change that, and, hopefully, share any money we eventually generate with those who helped us reach that goal.
Interested?
Abrazos,
Jack Beavers
PS: I know this post will be criticized because I cannot offer writers payment yet, as US Border News has not generated any revenue. I am OK with that and wish those critics much success joining another site with an established revenue stream!
I am being as transparent as I can with this pitch and wish everyone reading it the best of luck moving forward during very difficult times in the journalism industry.
Cheers & blessings to you all!
