Fact Check: Border Arrests at "All-Time Low"?
Has history been made on the US-Mexico Border?
US Federal Officials are celebrating a dramatic drop in illegal crossings at the US Southern Border with Mexico. Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks says these are "Historic results: The lowest (Border Patrol) apprehensions in history and the most secure border on record."
President Trump's "Border Czar" Tom Homan says, "I started as a Border Patrol Agent in 1984, which was 41 years ago. I cannot recall a single month since then that the numbers have been this low."
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a statement saying that "Thanks to (President Trump) and (DHS Secretary Kristi Noem), we have the most secure border in history."
The DHS statement on x.com included a chart (see above) showing the dramatic decline in "encounters at the southern border" from March 2024 to March 2025, with photos to remind you who was president during those months.
As impressive as those numbers are, at least one immigration analyst says they are not the "lowest in history.”
The Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA) has produced a chart (see above) that shows Border Patrol apprehensions were lower during the 60’s, 50’s, and pre-World War Two period, based on the Border Patrol's own data (see chart below).
So, the news from the US-Mexico border (while extremely good) is technically not historical. Saying these numbers are the lowest we have seen in many decades would be more accurate, and it would not take away from what US Federal Agencies (as well as Texas, which has spent billions on "Operation Lone Star") have accomplished on the US Southern Border.

I would imagine people arent as eager to migrate here, as they watch this regime send planes full of migrants to a torturous, hell hole of a prison in El Salvador. Better to deal with violence and extreme poverty as opposed to being kidnapped off the street and taken far away from your family!! Who,unless they see your picture on tv, have no idea where you are. Without the constitutional right to due process, under this regime. Pure out and out fascism.
