The US Coast Guard is making life difficult for cartel drug and human smugglers trying to cross into US waters along our Southern Borders on both the East and West Coasts after tripling its forces patrolling those areas:
"The Coast Guard has tripled the number of deployed forces - to include cutters, aircraft, and tactical teams - along the U.S. southern border and maritime approaches. (In January alone), we interdicted over 71,000 lb of illicit drugs. Our counterdrug efforts are directly impacting Transnational Criminal Organizations that are seeking to smuggle fentanyl into the U.S. A vigilant Coast Guard means a safer nation." - US Coast Guard Statement
On March 16, 2025, the US Coast Guard Cutter returned to Key West, Florida after a 70-day patrol that resulted in the seizures of nearly 8,200 pounds of cocaine and 330 pounds of marijuana.

On March 22, 2025, a Fort Lauderdale-based Coast Guard law enforcement boat crew (assisted by US Customs & Border Protection, Broward County Sheriff's Office, and Palm Beach Sheriff's Office) seized 550 pounds of cocaine, worth an estimated $6.3 million, from a 36-foot boat piloted by a cartel smuggler near Port Everglades, Florida.

On March 23, 2025, the Coast Guard interrupted a human smuggling attempt and apprehended 19 aliens aboard a 30-foot pleasure craft off Point Loma, California.

The US Navy is joining the Coast Guard in tightening security off the US Southern Border. The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Spruance is patrolling off San Diego and USS Gravely is patrolling the Gulf to curtail cartel smugglers.
