Border Wall Expands, Reinforced to Deter Illegal Immigration
Texas & Trump tout border barrier

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) awarded the first border wall contract of President Trump’s second term in office to close critical openings in the border wall that were left incomplete due to canceled contracts during the Biden Administration.
While Trump was out of office, Texas expanded the wall along the Rio Grande for another 57 miles and has bought or negotiated easements to build another 100 miles of wall. Texas has earmarked more than $2.5 billion dollars to expand the wall - and is the only border state to do that.

The $70,285,846 federal contract will construct seven miles of new border wall in Hidalgo County, Texas, within the U.S. Border Patrol’s busy Rio Grande Valley Sector.
As the wall expands, cartel human smugglers are adapting to attempt to beat the barrier.

Surveillance cameras along the wall routinely capture images of cartel "smuggling guides" bringing homemade ladders to the wall to help migrants breach it. So the federal government is tasking army troops assigned to Southern Border Security to reinforce sections of the wall with coils of razor wire to prevent that from happening:

US Northern Command has assigned another 385 combat engineers to assist in these efforts, including:
Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 41st Engineer Battalion, 10th Mountain Division, from Fort Drum, New York
642nd Engineer Company, 41st Engineer Battalion, 10th Mountain Division, from Fort Drum, New York
76th Combat Engineer Company-Stryker, 4th Engineer Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, from Fort Carson, Colorado
Do you believe that expanding and reinforcing the border wall will prevent illegal crossings from Mexico into the US?
