Arizona Border: 47 Rifles & 20,000 Ammo Rounds Seized by Feds
"Iron river" of smuggled weapons & ammo to Mexican cartels from US disrupted.
A Mexican Cartel's expected shipments of dozens of high-powered rifles and thousands of rounds of ammo won't be arriving this month, thanks to US Federal Agents along the US Southern Border with Mexico
On February 17, 2025, US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) Agents checking southbound traffic from Nogales, Arizona, into Mexico discovered the driver of a cargo truck was attempting to smuggle 42 AK47 rifles (likely meant to arm the Sinaloa Cartel, which controls much of the illegal activity in the neighboring Mexican state of Sonora).
A few days before that, a Task Force of Border Patrol Agents, along with Homeland Security Investigators, Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms Agents, Arizona Department of Public Safety officers, and Pima County Sheriff's Deputies, arrested two more gunrunners. They seized more than 20,000 rounds of ammunition and nine guns that - again - were likely bound for delivery to the Sinaloa Cartel.
Earlier this month, Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum announced President Trump had promised to place a greater emphasis on preventing high-powered weapons from entering Mexico.
This illegal flow of guns and ammo from smugglers in the United States to the cartels in Mexico is often referred to as the "iron river" by law enforcement officers on both sides of the border.
I examined that in an earlier article I published on the Newsbreak platform, which you can read HERE.

How concerned are you about gun-running schemes that are arming the Mexican Cartels?

I wonder if anyone remembers Holder's "Fast and Furious," and what it meant to arming and funding the cartels? I'm pretty sure FBI Dir Patel remembers, and he runs the ATF, now. Big changes coming.
