A Closer Look at the Drop in Illegal Crossings at the Southern Border
Record low numbers in July
(Note: The drop in illegal Southwest Border Crossings was mentioned as an item in our most recent weekly US Border News Newsletter. This article gives more detail, courtesy of members of the House Committee on Homeland Security).

Last month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded record-low illegal immigration at the Southwest border, with only 4,601 U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) apprehensions—a 92% decrease compared to one year prior under the Biden-Harris administration. Additionally, in July 2025, nationwide encounters dropped over 85% compared to last year.
According to Republican members of the House Committee on Homeland Security (which includes Chairman Andrew Garbarino) on July 20, 2025, just 116 illegal aliens were apprehended by USBP attempting to cross our borders, the lowest single-day total in agency history. Last July, under Biden and Harris, USBP apprehended an average of over 1,800 illegal border crossers per day, and roughly 3,000 per day in July 2023.
The graphic below shows the massive drop in Southwest Border (SWB) Encounters recorded this year, as well as the previous drop recorded in 2024 from 2023:
Additionally:
Last month, USBP paroled zero illegal aliens into the U.S., compared to the 12,365 paroled by the Biden-Harris administration in July 2024.
CBP encounters of inadmissible aliens at the Northern border dropped nearly 65% in July 2025 (6,296) compared to July 2024 (17,895).
Fentanyl seizures nationwide (968 lbs.) increased 30% from the previous month
Meanwhile, construction continues to expand the "Border Wall" to deter future illegal crossing attempts.

My sense is that these numbers have dropped, also, because no one wants to come here any more. Who the hell wants to live in fear in a nation where the military has been deployed on the streets against the very citizens they are sworn to protect? We've created an abomination along the border, insulting our largest trading partner, and we are destroying lives and businesses that depend on immigrant labor. Take note of the cost of vegetables being up 38% in the past few months. It will only get worse because we don't have the workers to build houses, pick crops, cook food at restaurants, and make life easier and simpler for Americans. The next step is a Berlin-style wall with gun towers and immigrants approaching the wall will be shot. I'm disgusted at how we treat desperate people seeking hope and opportunity, which this country used to provide to outsiders.
This is wonderful news that is not on MSM. Thanks to you,Jack, the public knows what a great success our border policy is now. What a relief it is. The EU must envy the U. S. to have Trump making us safe again.
